The adventure holiday of a lifetime sailing the clear tropical waters of Lamu Archipelago.  Relax as the dhow sails along and soak up the sun, sea and culture.

Visit the Swahili ruins, the Muslim boat-building village, snorkel in the clear blue seas, laze on the beaches and sleep in our tree house for the night.

Visit Kiwayuu a remote and sparsely populated island, everywhere there is birdlife and sealife – turtles, dolphins, whale shark. Enjoy freshly caught fish followed by delicious tropical fruits.

Mix this holiday with a Kenya safari and take a couple of days to explore the World Heritage Listed Lamu town with all its historical and cultural diversity.

A Typical Four Day Trip (depends on wind and tide)

DAY 1 - Fly into Lamu midday and be met by the boat to offload your bags.  Cross over to Lamu town for a walk through this fascinating Swahili World Heritage Site. There is only one car in the whole town and transport is by donkey and dhow.  Visit the museum to learn about local tribes, history and customs. An official guidew ill take you on a town tour for about $10. People often stay the first night in Lamu and then set off the next morning.

DAY 2 - Leave early to sail through the Mkwanda Channel, inside Pate Island to visit Kizingitini, a remote Muslim village on the north shore, which is the dhow building centre of Kenya.  Cross over to Kiwayuu where there is only one small hotel and village and watch the sun go down.  Stay in our tree house which is locally owned by a cousin of Shallo's.

DAY 3 - An early morning hike up the conical hill to see the sunrise over the Indian Ocean and Kiwayuu’s deserted beach.  Then a short cut through the mangroves to Mkokoni, a friendly village opposite the northern end of Kiwayuu, where you can sleep on a platform for the night.  There are great snorkelling resorts in the Marine Park just off the unspoilt beach, swimming, and a WWF turtle project.

DAY 4 - Sail outside Pate south to Manda Toto, to camp on a deserted island for the night.

DAY 5 - Return to Lamu for a night or direct to your flight at midday.
