Sailing Dhow Adventure

The adventure holiday of a lifetime sailing the clear tropical waters of Lamu Archipelago. Relax as the dhow sails along and soak up the sun, sea and culture. Visit the Swahili ruins, the Muslim boat-building village, snorkel in the clear blue seas, laze on the beaches and sleep in our tree house for the night. Visit Kiwayuu a remote and sparsely populated island, everywhere there is birdlife and sealife – turtles, dolphins, whale shark. Enjoy freshly caught fish followed by delicious tropical fruits. Mix this holiday with a Kenya safari and take a couple of days to explore the World Heritage Listed Lamu town with all its historical and cultural diversity.

People of the Monsoon

Getaway Magazine, Feb 2008For years, Justin Fox dreamed of exploring the Kenyan coast in a dhow. His search for the Swahili people's story took him to little-known islands. The sun sank into a mess of western clouds. In the dark, our skipper picked a course among mangrove channels and eventually found our anchorage. We ate birjani masala in the pools of light cast by paraffin lamps just off a lovely sweep of beach, the Kusi breathing gently in the palms, a haloed moon tossing back and forth above us.

This is an adventure holiday of a lifetime, sleeping on a mattress on open decks under the stars.

Simple but fresh food is provided on board, often reef fish caught from the boat and we provide soft drinks and beverages.

We cater especially for single independent travellers and families.

Our aim is to provide sustainable ethical ecotourism that benefits the local communities and gives you a rewarding experience. Tourism increases the economic valuation of coral reef resources.

Jambo Kenya

Kenyans are the friendliest of people with a great sense of humour and are very welcoming to tourists. The warmth and welcome given by swahili people is one of the things that make visits to this part of the world so special and has been noted since the first visitors to this area. We strongly recommend that you spend at least two weeks in Kenya, there is so much to see and do, and your flight’s carbon emissions will be more worthwhile.
